The room is alive as the party goes,
people act their part so the evening flows
Idle talk becomes ripe within,
many a person desiring home and kin
Yet two stand apart from the mindless crowd,
their eyes and hearts saying their feelings aloud
Neither have met or seen the other,
until chance took away that last cover

Shall we dance tonight among the stars 'till late?
leaving all our cares and woes to fate
Shall our feet tread anew the timeless promenade?
accompanied only by the moonlit serenade

The dancers go, the party ends as it should,
but two will not stop on the stage of wood
Faster and faster their feet do so fly,
their love declared only to the morning sky
